SIAMS

SIAMS is the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. Withington is a church school and this means that every few years we are inspected to make sure we are an effective church school. An inspector will come into school and find out as much as they can about the school (and this includes research before they come in). They speak with children, parents, governors, and staff as well as observing an act of worship. As a Voluntary Aided school, RE lessons and work are also taken into consideration.

The questions they need to answer to make a judgement are:

IQ1 – How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision enable pupils and adults to flourish?

IQ2 – How does the curriculum reflect the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision?

IQ3 – How is collective worship enabling pupils and adults to flourish spiritually?

IQ4 How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create a culture in which pupils and adults are treated well?

IQ5 – How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create an active culture of justice and responsibility?

IQ6 – Is the religious education curriculum effective & reflects the expectations set out in the C of E’s S of E for RE?

IQ7 - What is the quality of religious education in voluntary aided schools, in which denominational religious education is taught?

We are pleased that we are a ‘good’ church school. Please read our SIAMS report:
