Dragonflies – Class 3 (Juniors)
Dragonflies have a busy term ahead of them! We will be learning all about Ancient Egypt and our work in this topic will link into our English lessons; we will be writing reports about everyday life in ancient Egypt; producing a newspaper article about the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb and we will be writing instructions on how to mummify a body!
To further support our work in this topic, we will be attending a workshop at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. This will give the children the opportunity to handle real and replica Egyptian artefacts.
In PE the children will be orienteering and geocaching. In addition, we will be attending climbing sessions at Wild Rock Climbing Centre, Northleach, where they will learn how to attach a harness safely, belay techniques and the skill of climbing itself. For those with a head for heights there is a 15 metre outdoor tower to scale! The centre is a NICAS awarding centre and the children can work towards achieving Levels 1 and 2. In the latter part of the term the children will be swimming at Brockworth Sports Centre.
